Michelle Obama Get Her Hands Dirty

When you are married to the leader of the free world, you would think you could have someone else do your gardening.
But if you're Michelle Obama, you are willing to get your hands a little dirty. On Friday, she led a group of Washington-area school kids through the White House grounds to help with the groundbreaking of her new White House Kitchen groundbreaking. With shovels, rakes, and hoes in hand, the kids stood in amazement as Obama talked about having a beehive ("my kids aren't very excited...but we're going to try to make our own honey").

The First Lady wants to promote healthy eating and living, and has already started working on an organic fruit and vegetable garden. She has some other ulterior motives for the project: "With my kids, especially if they were involved in planting it and picking it, they were much more curious about giving vegetables a try."
The garden Obama and the kids helped start on Friday will include vegetables, fruits, and herbs to be used in the White House kitchen and at a nearby soup kitchen.
