Get set for a major new phase in videogame evolution!

Nintendo has announced the release date for much anticipated DSi, the third, eagerly awaited version of the Nintendo DS game console.

According to 'joystiq.com,' the handheld wonder will be in stores on April 5 and will cost $169.99.

Unlike the current DS Lite, the DSi will have two Video Graphics Array digital cameras, an interactive voice recorder, and the ability to play music stored on an SD card. It's also 12% thinner, with a larger screen and improved speakers.

Unfortunately, the battery life is only 14 hours on the lowest brightness level, compared to the 19 hours of the DS Lite. We're just sayin', in case you're one of those people who doesn't stop playing to eat or sleep.
