In their latest edition, The Guinness World Records has chosen the most influential videogames of all time.
The list is sure to stir controversy.
"We invited a crack team of industry experts to form a judging panel," editor-in-chief Craig Glenday told Kotaku.com. "And the result is a 'top 50' list of games ranked both on their importance and on how fun they are to play."
The title they believe has the longest legacy and largest impact on video games in history is Super Mario Kart!
Their rationale is that it's the best-selling racer for the old Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Gamecube, and DS, making it both successful, fun, and an important entry-level game.
Rounding out their top 5 are Tetris, Grand Theft Auto, Super Mario World, and Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Where's Pac-man? Donkey Kong? Pong? Space Invaders?
Game over, Guinness.
