"Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail" was a huge winner at the box office this weekend, locking up over $41.1 million -- a stunning figure for a film with no explosions, serial killers, or roster of box office stars.

Defying the downward-cycling trend of action films, Liam Neeson's "Taken" bounced back into second place with $11.4 for a total of $95.1 million, also way higher than the industry expected.

"Coraline" took third with $11 million for $53.4 million total, while "He's Just Not That Into You" was next with $8.5 million for $70 million total, followed by "Slumdog Millionaire" with $8 million for $98 million to date.

Last week's champ, "Friday the 13," slid to sixth place with just $7.8 million for a total of $55 million.
