It's Official: Mayer Sitting Pretty with Aniston at the Oscars

(Photo: Splash News Online) After weeks of hype, Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer made their most public outing to date, keeping up a united front at the Academy Awards.

As the Best Short Film (Live Action) award was given out, those sly ABC cameras gave the world their first Maniston shot of the evening. As the nominees were read, the camera slid over to Josh Brolin and Diane Lane's row. If you blinked, you may have missed the brooding man sitting next to them.

Mayer- looking dapper in a black tux- sat stone-faced next to Aniston who was probably still kicking herself for her onstage gaffes while Brad and Angelina giggled along a mere few feet away. Good thing her music man was there to help lick her wounds!
