Cruise Is Re-Bourne

What do you do when your box office image is tarnished by a couple of underperformers -- most recently the disappointing WW2 flick Valkyrie?
If you're Tom Cruise, you try to get another Mission: Impossible type franchise going. And you turn to the author who gave Matt Damon his mega-successful Jason Bourne movies.
Oh, and you pair with a reliable star like Denzel Washington and an always-interesting director like David Cronenberg (A History of Violence, Eastern Promises).
Cruise will play a spy who goes to war against fellow spy Washington in an adaptation of the classic Robert Ludlum thriller The Matarese Circle.
The movie will go into production later this year to be in theaters in 2010.
