Ryan O'Neal has just pleaded guilty to drug possession in a Malibu, California courtroom. At the same time, he agreed to enter an 18-month drug recovery program.
If the 67 year-old actor successfully completes the counseling regimen, the charges will be dismissed.
Attorney Mark Werksman told People magazine, "Ryan was anxious to move on with his life with privacy and dignity and that's what we're trying to do here today."
With O'Neal, for support, was his 23 year-old son Redmond who also has a pending drug date in court.
O'Neal was arrested September 17 at his home in Malibu after found a vial of methamphetamines in Ryan's bedroom. His son -- who has battled drug addiction for years -- was also arrested. He had been on probation due to a DUI and drug possession conviction in June, 2008. In fact, Werksman had initially said the drugs found in O'Neal's bedroom belonged to his son.
