Need Speed?

Electronic Arts has announced that it's super-popular Need for Speed games is steering to new and untested territory.
This morning, the videogame maker said they will take the 15 year-old racing series to different platforms: simulation, action and arcade racing.
"It's all about crafting different games for different audiences," said Electronic Arts exec Keith Munro. "The Need for Speed brand has great recognition, even outside of gaming. We realized that it could be stretched to new limits on different platforms."

The new games, due later this year, are Need for Speed Shift -- a first-person racer for PS 3 and Xbox 360 -- Need for Speed World Online -- a multiplayer action-driver for PCs -- and Need for Speed Nitro, an arcade-style racer for Nintendo's Wii and DS.
