According to MMOhub.org, the female online gaming audience increased to almost 43 million visitors, roughly 27% over the previous year. A majority of these games are of the puzzle and strategy type, like Word Challenge (y'know -- where you get all those annoying Facebook messages that so-and-so just got their highest score).
Statistically, women are 2 times likelier than men to spend 20 hours a week playing PC games.

The online gaming industry has responded by creating games, portals, and websites that cater to women and also allow them to make new friends.
