Falk's Wife vs. Daughter

It's a familiar story: wealthy figure is ailing and his family is fighting over who gets to run the show. In fact, it's a plot worthy of Columbo, the beloved TV sleuth created by the man at the center of the fight.
Catherine Falk, the daughter of 81 year-old actor Peter Falk has asked that her father, who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease, be placed under her guardianship. However, ABC News is now reporting that the Emmy-winner's wife of 32 years, Shera Danese Falk, is opposing the bid, claiming that he is already receiving proper care and doesn't have a close relationship with his daughter.
In her Tuesday Los Angeles Superior Court filing, Shera wrote that the court "need not take the drastic step of taking away Peter's rights under the guise of a conservatorship."
A hearing on the matter is scheduled for next month.
