Cruise 'Too Small'

According to a relative of the real-life Claus Von Stauffenberg -- the German officer played by Tom Cruise in Valkyrie -- the star was miscast.
In an interview with the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, Franz von Stauffenberg says Cruise is "not at all decisive in the role and above all not charismatic enough. On the whole he just seems too small."
Franz says his great uncle also "inspired people with his smile, his humor and charm," qualities which Cruises possesses but ironically doesn't use in his gravitas-laden performance.

For those keeping track, the flick will end up with a very modest $85 million for its U.S. theatrical run. Not quite a disaster, but not the big hit Cruise needed.
