Showing the kind of box office muscle he did in his Dirty Harry days, Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino dominated the box office this weekend, earning an impressive $29 million. It was the star's biggest nationwide opening ever.
The Anne Hathaway-Kate Hudson film Bride Wars proved surprisingly potent, pulling a different audience for $21.5 million total. Nearly edging it out for second place was the chiller The Unborn which earned a better-than-expected $21.1 million.
Marley & Me came in fourth with $11.4 million for a total of $123.7 million. In fifth place was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with $9.5 million for a total of $94.3 million.
