(Photo: Splash News Online) Whitney Houston has been taken to court by her stepmother regarding the last wishes of her father, who died in 2003. The amended complaint was filed this week in New Jersey federal court

Barbara Houston claims that Whitney unlawfully kept the cash from John Houston's 1 million dollar insurance policy.

According to the lawsuit, the 45-year-old singer was supposed to pay off the mortgage on her dad's New Jersey condominium with $723,000 of the insurance money.

In addition, Barbara, who currently lives in the condo, also insists that her famous stepdaughter was then supposed to give the remaining money to her.

Lawyers for both parties have declined to comment on the legal battle.
