In Amityville, New York, just across a narrow inlet of the Great South Bay -- site of a famed 1970s haunting immortalized in a series of films -- a family has endured a new and deadly shocker.
A 2-story home on Meadow Lane was suddenly destroyed Sunday, sending pieces of wood and furniture in all directions and crushing a car with a blown-off roof.
Owner Rich Brown says he lost virtually everything in the blast except what matters most: his girlfriend and his 10 year-old twins.
