Next Big Screen Superhero: Captain America
Nov. 10 2008, Published 5:14 a.m. ET
Following the success of Spider-Man, Iron Man and (somewhat) The Incredible Hulk, the next Marvel Comics superhero being brought to the big screen is Captain America. The movie will be set during World War II, when the comic book made its debut.
Captain America is weakling Steve Rogers who volunteers to take an injection of a chemical designed to make him a super-soldier. Super-powered and armed with an indestructible shield, the red-white-and-blue Avenger tackles Nazis and, in particular, the villainous Red Skull.

This will actually be the fourth time 'Cap' is being filmed. There was a movie serial, a pair of TV flicks, and a feature that was barely noticed when released in 1990.
The film is being directed by Joe Johnston, who gave us The Rocketeer and Jumanji.
As reported previously in RADAR, Marvel's The Mighty Thor is also gearing up for production.
