HBO has acquired the U.S. rights to do an Obama documentary for seven figures.
Edward Norton's company, Class 5 Films, had initially approached Obama in 2006 with the idea of making a film chronicling his history in politics.
Directors Amy Rice and Alicia Sams were allowed to film Obama extensively before he ran for president in 2007, and they haven't stopped shooting.
"Senator Obama's history-making race for the White House has given our film a perfect framework to explore the pulse of the country at this vital moment in our history," said Norton, who produced the documentary with Stuart Blumberg and Bill Migliore.
