Shh! Mrs. P is reading!
Kathy Kinney (The Drew Carey Show) and former "Carey" head writer Clay Graham have teamed to deliver a character they hope will "do for reading what Sesame Street has done for learning."
Launched yesterday and aimed at kids, Mrs. P proudly "celebrates reading and books" by placing kids in the cozy confines of her interactive cabin, where they are free to click around or listen to old Mrs. P read classic stories with a thick Irish accent.
"There are all these great icons out there for insurance and beer companies that people know, but there's no great icon that says reading is cool," notes creator Graham.
"She's like Pippi Longstocking, Mary Poppins and Mrs. Clause all rolled into one," writes Susan Carpenter of the LA Times.
So far, 15 classic tales like Goldilocks and Jack and the Beanstalk are currently available on the site, with 15 more on the way.
