American Idol Returns; Buffy Creator Gets New Show

Fox has made it official: American Idol will be back for its eighth season on January 13.
Elsewhere on Fox, House is moving from Tuesday to Monday starting on January 19.
The network is also giving the deadly Friday 9 p.m. slot to Dollhouse from Buffy creator Joss Whedon. It's a night and time notorious for the potential young adult audience to be out and about and not watching TV. With streaming episodes from their website, though, that may be less of a problem than in previous years. The series stars Eliza Dushku (the butt-kicking slayer Faith from Buffy) as a member of a group whose personalities can be overwritten with new ones.
