NYT: Minor Mistake With Beaten Minor In Zimbabwe

Remember this photo? The story it originally accompanied in the New York Times reported that the pictured 11-month-old baby had his legs broken by marauding supporters of Zimbabwe's corrupt dictator/president, Robert Mugabe. Except after the Times brought the child in for care, it was revealed that the casts were a result of a procedure to correct the boy's club feet, and that the child had been wearing them at the time of the attack. The mother of the child maintains that the baby was in fact thrown to the ground; another witness corroborates her claim but says the mother couldn't have seen this because she was in another room. Just thought you should know, not that you'll feel any better about what's going on over there. NYT Editors' Note
