MARKET FORCE Lidle
The story of Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle's small plane crash and the ensuing collective 9/11 flashback might have caused a dip in the stock market. But another market turned suddenly bullish: eBay trading in Cory Lidle merchandise.
Take this Cory Lidle 1996 card that went up on the auction site at 2:33 p.m., Pacific Standard Time, about an hour after Lidle's name emerged in accounts of the crash. The seller boasts "Only Cory Lidle Authentic Autograph on EBAY ! I HAVE 2!" The card went from little over a dollar to $100.01 in less than an hour.
