Microsoft Wagon Circling the Yahoos

Ballmer That sound you're hearing may be the death knell for Jerry Yang's Yahoo as you've come to know—and mostly disregard—it. Sources familiar with the dealings say Microsoft is primed to make another move for the company, though according to CEO Steve Ballmer, negotiations have not yet returned to the full-scale, $44 billion takeover that was on the table in late January. Still, all signs point to that being a likely endgame as most people assume that, given anything less, there's little reason for Yahoo to pursue a deal with Microsoft instead of industry overlord Google. And really, who wants anymore Google anything (besides consumers)? NYT
