Are You There, Barack? It's Me, Judy

For years, Judy Blume, Cecily von Ziegesar, and Meg Cabot have titillated adolescent readers with tales of unexpected menstruation, Park Avenue sex romps, and plain Jane-to-princess transformations (respectively.) Now these titans of young adult (or YA) literature are teaming up to celebrate their deep and abiding love for Barack Obama.
Blume, Cabot, and Zeigasar are just a few of the names signed on to YA for Obama a new blog and social networking site created by teen lit writer Maureen Johnson. Though the site's grand opening is technically scheduled for Monday, it is up and running today and already has a roster of 243 members. YA for Obama's main forums are broken into breathless-sounding, teen-friendly categories like "Obama Awesomeness" and "YAY for YA!" but discussions within have already touched upon more serious topics like censorship, energy policy, and race.

What's that you say? You are neither a teenage reader nor an author nor even particularly fond of Barack Obama? That's fine. Quoth the site's FAQs: "EVERYONE is welcome. Just don't be surprised if you catch OBAMA FEVER while you are here." Ladies and gentlemen, the OMFG vote is secured.
