With finely tuned ears, fans at the Mandy Moore show at The Fillmore at Irving Plaza in Manhattan this weekend were treated to yet another glimpse inside her desperate but hope-filled heart. And they were better for it. For those who missed the show or have better things to do than discern which famous fling Mandy is wailing about at any time, Radar offers this handy guide to the well of emotions and hard-learned love lessons of Mandy Moore.
"I hate to make sweeping generalizations, but for the most part, you know what? Guys suck! I haven't met the right one yet!" Moore said Saturday. Dressed in a scooped neck black short dress and black tights, the chanteuse performed "Nothing That You Are, which she termed "the angry song" on her new album, Wild Hope. The verse "I can never do those things you did to me" is the idée fixe. A sampling:
"I heard you say / We were one and the same / Well wrong again / I could never do those things you did to me / I will be okay / In time you'll fade / Into nothing that you are."
Likely inspiration: Either tennis ace Andy Roddick (2002-2004) or Wilmer Valderamma, shortly before him.
