At the Carolina Herrera show earlier this week, teenage models from the Ukraine stalked the runway in precipitously short culottes that nearly looked like mini skirts, begging the question: Are we facing the return of the skort? Herrera's sweet, floaty collection seemed to suggest so.
The queen of Park Avenue pretty said she was inspired by "the watercolors of Jeremiah Goodman," and dubbed the poofy drawers "cocktail shorts." But how, exactly, would the look that Sasha Pivovarova worked Monday work in the real world. We asked the '80s fashion diva with the immovable French twist, Ivana Trump: "Would you dare to go there?" Trump for her part insisted: "Carolina is a genius. Whatever she does is of course feminine and always sexy." Yeah, but the cocktail shorts? Hedged Trump, "I would do anything she asked me to."
