The Truth About Sharks

Since the dawn of time (or, more accurately, 1987—thanks, Wikipedia!), man has set aside one week each year to celebrate the members of superorder Selachimorpha, our sharp-toothed, bitey antagonists of the sea. As we find ourselves midway through this 21st Shark Week, we thought it might be time to take stock of these magnificent creatures and their portrayal in pop culture. Are they represented fairly? Treated with the dignity a species of such majesty deserves? To find out, we had an intern check in with some fish expert to gauge the accuracy of what we learn about sharks during the other 51 weeks of the year. The answers will astound you! Or not, I don't know. This seemed like a pretty good idea in the features meeting, but maybe I was just itching to get out of there and receptive to anything that would bring the thing to a close. God, I hate features meetings. Everybody's all yak yak yak, let's spend the whole damn day sitting around and chatting about—sorry, where was I? Ah, yes, our Shark Week feature. Click through! I guarantee it will be the greatest thing you read about sharks here at Radaronline.com today.
