ROBERT DOWNEY FINDS MORE GOLD IN IRON

Since Iron Man jetted to over $600 million gross in just its U.S. theatrical release, it's no surprise that Robert Downey, Jr. has agreed to return as the Marvel superhero in the sequel, which will be released May 7, 2010.
Downey has now agreed to play Iron Man in the film version of Marvel's comic book The Avengers, the crimefighting team comprised of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the Incredible Hulk.

It was just announced that The Avengers will be released July 15, 2011. No word if Edward Norton will reprise his role as the Hulk.
Jon Favreau, who directed Iron Man, is helming the other two.
Meanwhile, Downey is currently starring in a film that could launch another successful series: Sherlock Holmes.
