P.I. Pellicano Represents His Fool Client
Oct. 27 2008, Published 7:07 a.m. ET
Accused wiretapper to the stars Anthony Pellicano kicked off the Hollywood trial that's haunted the dreams of Sylvester Stallone, Chris Rock, Farrah Fawcett, Mike Ovitz, and a long list of potential famous witnesses for the last six years. Representing himself, P.I. Pellicano painted himself as a people person and a go-to guy. Rather than directly addressing the allegations that could put him away for life, Pellicano described himself as being in the business of "gathering information" (like Google!) and "problem solving" (like the mafia!), adding on the genius note, "The evidence will show what it shows"—a move known in L.A. law circles as the classic "what-ever" defense.
