Melissa Etheridge: Piece Of My Mind

While many gay couples in California hold their breath as Proposition 8 is voted on—deciding the constitutional validity of some 11,000 gay marriages—musician Melissa Etheridge has been blogging about her family life, and the challenges she faced adopting her children with her wife, Tammy. This includes her young son's reaction to Proposition 8.
After she showed her 9-year-old son the line, "Changes California Constitution to eliminate right of same sex couples to marry," he responded by saying "Wow, that's lame."

Etheridge writes on The Daily Beast about her initial joy in hearing that the Supreme Court of California had declared same sex marriage legal, as well as her views on the upcoming vote and the hate and fear that inspired it.
But the songstress ends her blog with confidence.
"I will be waking up with my children on November 5th and I will be fixing them breakfast as I usually do. I look forward to telling them that Prop 8 was defeated. I am sure my son will say, 'Good, that was lame.'"
