Unlikely odds, huge payouts ... this isn't the lottery. It's the divorce settlement of Maya Polsky, worth a record-breaking $184 million!
Yesterday an Illinois judge ruled that Maya was entitled to half of her husband Michael Polsky's fortune. Her hotshot lawyer, Howard Rosenfeld, successfully argued that because she lent "advice or merely an open ear" to her husband, the head honcho of Invenergy LLC, they were a partnership and that warranted a 50-50 split of assets.

The president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers apparently is not aware of a larger settlement in the U.S. However, the sum pales in comparison to Roman Abramovich's $300M settlement with his ex-wife, former stewardess Irina Abramovich, in Russia. What a country!
