Louis Vuitton Hates the Sudanese
Oct. 27 2008, Published 7:07 a.m. ET
Children in Darfur will be a little colder, a little hungrier, and altogether more miserable tonight if Louis Vuitton has its way. Apparently the handbag and luxury goods giant has a problem with this dying-Sudanese-kid-as-Paris Hilton picture, which adorns T-shirts sold to benefit genocide victims in Darfur. LV is claiming some sort of copyright infringement despite the fact that the bag in the picture looks more Canal Street than Bloomingdales and makes no explicit reference to Louis Vuitton. We're guessing that siding with the Janjaweed isn't the best PR move, but as they say, any publicity about your refusal to help children who are being systematically raped and murdered is good publicity.
