Detroit Mayor: And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going

SUGE KNIGHT-ISH IN WHITE SATIN Kwame Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, he of the Steve Harvey-like evening wear and similarly colorful and sexy text messages, yesterday vetoed a motion sent to Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm by the Detroit City Council calling for his removal. The move is expected to have little if any bearing on proceedings, other than to reiterate the heft of the Mayor's balls—the office of the mayor has no jurisdiction to veto such things. The motion to dismiss Kilpatrick stems from a $8.4 million whistle-blower settlement involving the police department that the Democratic mayor handled, to many minds, poorly. It was subsequently learned that he had an affair with his chief of staff, Christine Beatty, and that both he and the woman perjured themselves in testimony related to the whistle-blowing and Kwame-blowing incidents.
