AS SEEN ON TV Watson Following an cringe-inducing appearance on MSNBC's primary election coverage with tow-headed Hardballer Chris Matthews, Texas Senator Kirk Watson has finally done his homework on his presidential choice, Barack Obama. Is it okay if he turns it in a little late?
"So ... That really happened," Watson begins in a statement on his website. For the uninitiated, he's referring to Matthews making Watson what prison inmates call his "bitch," a tool in Matthews point about Barack Obama supporters being driven not by specific policy positions but by warm fuzzy feelings for the skinny kid with the funny name. Matthews asked Watson, who had come on the show to support Obama for president, to name a single piece of legislation for which Obama was responsible. Watson explains that it's not that he didn't know of any—that would be asinine! He just had a brain fart.
