Kennedy Throws Weight Behind Obama

In an effort to counter the impression that Barack Obama isn't enough a part of the Democratic establishment to win a general election, Senator Ted is expected to announce his endorsement of the candidate today. Kennedy remains incredibly popular with Democratic primary voters, while his name alone inspires legions of Republicans to loosen the death grips on their calfskin wallets and donate generously to the GOP. In fact, the only politician less popular with Republican voters is Hillary Clinton, which totally annoys Ted, who has spent decades vying for the most hated slot. Ted's endorsement would come far enough before Super Tuesday to help Obama's chances with Democratic voters who haven't already voted absentee, and far enough away from the general election to let the ancients who despise Kennedy forget that he endorsed Obama.
