Keeping The Blacks Down At The Dem Convention

Well, we didn't exactly expect to see our favorite mayor, Detroit's sexy-text-messaging Kwame Kilpatrick, show up to do his superdelegate duties at the Democratic National Convention—though a judge will decide shortly if he may untether himself from his ankle bracelet to attend. But now Charlie Rangel, the most powerful (and most entertaining!) black man in Washington, is being kept from a speaking slot at the DNC by the Obama campaign, says the Politico. Oh, hell no. Rangel went to bat hard for most of the year for Hillary Clinton, because 1. he wanted to and 2. he had to, because New York is a small and ugly backscratching state. But the day Clinton pulled out—in fact a few weeks before, even—Rangel, like most black politicians in Hillaryland, was more than happy to bail out and switch camps. Later today, if there are any political reporters still working in New York during these August dog days, expect a totally brutal Rangel explosion! It is going to be great.
