FREE AGENT Moss
Kate Moss may have made a huge comeback after her brush with the coke fairy, scoring a handful of marquee campaigns to keep her bank account in fine form, but it seems she's having a somewhat complicated week.
The mannequin is about to get ousted as the face of steamy, A-list-vetted lingerie brand Agent Provocateur when her contract expires next month—and it's not because of her saggy knees. Serena Rees, a creative director with the purveyor of expensive, skimpy things (along with her husband Joe Corre), might like it to appear that it's because Moss has lost her lustre.
This week, Rees announced that she wouldn't be renewing Moss's £500,000 contract, and had already selected a fresh face to represent the brand. But buzz in bitchy style circles has it that Rees fell out of favor with Moss when she began a home-wrecking affair with Clash bassist Paul Simonon, leaving La Moss to side with his bereft wife.
Moss wasn't the only person whose lacy thong got into a bunch because of the imbroglio. Rees has also burned her bridges with another member of fashion royalty—Vivienne Westwood is Joe Corre's mother.
