As loud as he gets, Kanye's moms has his back.

While West's fiancee, Alexis Phifer, debuted her fashion line Ghita at the Metropolitan Pavilion Tuesday, Dr. Donda West (aka "Mom") talked about her son's public (or public-relations) rivalry with 50 Cent, telling RadarOnline.com, "No. I'm not a fan" of Fiddy. "Some people wouldn't say that Kanye is very diplomatic, but I think he is. It's kind of hard to be diplomatic and tell the truth at the same time." And in a comment that could just as well be applied her son's backstage blowup after being denied an MTV Music Award in all of the five categories in which he was nominated, she added, "I have never known him to have a beef with anybody. He is just competitive by nature. He wants to be number one. And as far as many people are concerned, he is."

Phifer, meanwhile, offers guidance on Kanye's—and Dr. West's—fashion choices. "She is real quick to say, 'Maybe you should wear a different belt.' But she does it in a really nice way. And I really listen to her," Dr. West said. Kanye echoed the sentiment. "She definitely does that to me too. When I get ready I'm like, 'Baby, does this look good?' And she will say, 'NO! Take that off!'" Phifer says she gives Kanye his fashion freedom ... up to a point. "I try to let him make his own decisions of course, but some stuff is so, 'Oh! Babe, are you really going to wear that?'"

Now, if some other family member would just help the top-of-the-pops pontificator keep his word on promotional obligations....
