INSPIRATION? Apatow, Eckler's book (inset)
Not only was Canadian author (and blogger) Rebecca Eckler the one who was originally Knocked Up, filmmaker Judd Apatow has screwed her over, Eckler says in the latest issue of Canadian magazine Maclean’s.
The author says The 40 Year Old Virgin director ripped off her 2005 memoir, “Knocked Up: Confessions of a Hip Mother to Be.” Having read the screenplay, she contends that character and plot details are identical, as are the cover art on her novel and the cover on the screenplay. Eckler proclaims that she hates Apatow so much for his theft that he makes her want to just ... just ... crawl into the fetal position.” Her copyright infringement suit is set to go to trial March 11 of next year.
