"Superb!": The Quotewhoring Patrimony of Ben Lyons

DADDY LIKES Elder Lyons Ben Lyons, one of the two much-maligned beneficiaries of nepotism chosen to fill the legendary seats of Roger Ebert and the late Gene Siskel (and the other guy, who kind of sucked) on At the Movies, received a rousing defense from his father, noted blurbtart Jeffrey Lyons. The elder Lyons denies that he had any influence in getting his son hired. Young Ben takes a more nuanced view of the whole thing, saying "It has definitely helped to have my dad to open some doors for me. But you have to do the work yourself." This is very true! And we've no doubt that Jeffrey's influence has extended beyond helping his son land a sweet gig; the pair are both masters of the art of lauding any old piece of crap to the high heavens in hopes of getting their names on the ensuing advertisements.
