We'd crack a "perfect for Valentine's Day" joke here, but unfortunately the panties in question won't be on sale until February 16. Never one to swerve away from controversy, eccentric Brit designer Vivienne Westwood, whose runway show took place Thursday evening in London, has unveiled a pair of "Guantanomo orange" underthings as part of her collection. The knickers were designed by human rights charity Reprieve in conjunction with Agent Provocateur, the lingerie brand helmed by Westwood's son Joe Corre, and bear the slogan "Fair Trial My Ass."

The gesture is a nod to the great Gitmo underwear scandal of 2007, with, naturally, a fashionable twist. Once the frillies reach stores, proceeds will go to helping British nationals being detained by the U.S. in Cuba.
Okay, so it's undoubtedly a bit creepy, and probably unconstitutional that Guantanamo Bay is chock-full of men who haven't been charged with anything, but we daresay that the Muslim fundamentalists among them won't be charmed by Westwood's saucy knickers, either. No word on how British Prime Minister Gordon Brown reacted to the pair that were sent to him at 10 Downing Street Thursday morning.
