Exclusive Apple Store Photos!

While Steve Jobs was speaking in San Francisco at the Apple Keynote, we were investigating Apple's sexy new store in the Meatpacking District. Apple is announcing iPhone applications and an operating system or something right now! Or maybe a new iPhone? As you can see from the shot above, the store was the site of great excitement. Some employees were checking e-mail; one was fanning herself and suggested the store might be improved by a martini bar. Up on the third floor, a very restrained young man helped me buy a hard drive. What was the difference between the three with the same capacity and different price? Should I just get the cheap one? "I can't tell you what to buy," he said. "Great sales technique!" I told him. Seriously, though—why wouldn't he make a recommendation? But the real excitement was to be found down on the ground floor.
