STOP SNITCHIN' Carter Delving into the secrets of Graydon Carter is not for the faint of heart. A British book publisher has postponed an unauthorized biography of the Vanity Fair editor in chief after two researchers working on the book mysteriously quit.
London-based Artnik Books, which specializes in biographies of athletes, actors, and other types of celebrities, was planning to publish Graydon Carter: Hollywood Power Broker last October, using an anonymous author and researchers based in the U.S. But the project had to be put on hold after the researchers "got cold feet," says publisher Victor Lewis. "They quit very suddenly and with not much explanation," he says. "As we are a UK publisher, the difficulty for us is to compile enough material remotely, through U.S.- and Canada-based researchers. The book's been put back until we have all we need."
