FOREVER-EVER? Djimon Hounsou Blood Diamond may have barely squeaked into the top five at the box office this weekend with an estimated $8.5 million, but diamonds themselves are on everybody's mind.
In today's New York Daily News, Rush & Molloy lay out both sides of a Blood Diamond blood fued—okay, a blood disagreement— between the film's director, Ed Zwick, and hip-hop ambassador Russell Simmons. It seems that Simmons and his shy, retiring wife Kimora Lee Simmons, recently went on a De Beers-funded "fact-finding" trip to South Africa and Botswana and determined that far from being a source of hacked-off limbs and child soldiers, diamonds have actually improved the lives of Africans.
