Barack Obama is the politician most routinely described as a rock star, so this shouldn't come as any surprise: "Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, has left a slot open in his schedule during the first weekend of August for an appearance at the Lollapalooza music festival in his hometown of Chicago, according to multiple sources familiar with the ongoing planning and logistics."

The band Wilco—early and vocal supporters of Obama's campaign—are performing at the festival, which makes the candidate's appearance seem a bit more natural. Conversely, aides say Obama will not be attending this weekend's Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park because "he found the website's review of Travistan to be deliberately ungenerous and reeking of agenda."
