FIGHTING WEIGHT Banks, then, now No one calls Tyra Banks fat and gets away with it. The onetime supermodel and current would be Gen Y Oprah is furious that the press is calling her overweight and is throwing around her considerable heft to get the word out that she's not only fine with her weight, she's fine period.
In an appearance last night on CNN's Larry King Live, Banks railed against the media's fixation of stars' weights: "You wanna talk about hypocritical? I think it's so sad." Banks, who says she currently weighs 161 pounds, describes herself as "one of the voices of my generation instead of just a body and a face," and notes that she goes "back and forth with exercise." The former supermodel adds, "If I was concerned about what the number says on the scale, I would go crazy." (For his part, a wheezing Larry King just wants Charlize Theron to be considered the model for female comeliness.)
