Neighbor Of Murdered Stockdale Family: 'I thought It Was Target Practice!'

A neighbor of the Stockdale family has re-lived the shocking moment Jacob Stockdale, 25, allegedly blasted his brother James Stockdale, 21, and mother Kathryn Stockdale, 54, to death with a shotgun.

Harry Mcnutt Jr. – who lives next door to the Stockton home in Beach City, Ohio – heard the carnage at 4.30 p.m. on Thursday, June 15.

He said: "It was a rapid, you know, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, then time enough to reload, and another five or six shots so I thought it was target practice."

Police rushed to the scene after receiving a 911 hang-up call where they discovered Jacob with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His mother, Kathryn and brother James were found dead.

"This is a tragedy for the family. It is a tragedy for the community," Stark County Sheriff George T. Maier said.

It is understood that Jacob is being treated at the MetroHealth hospital in Cleveland were he is currently in a "serious condition."

The family was on the ABC reality show Wife Swap in 2008. Jacob, James, brother Calvin and father Timothy were members of the Stockdale Family bluegrass band.

Following the horror shooting Timothy Stockdale said in a statement: "Kathy has been my beloved wife of 32 years and a wonderful mother to our four sons. She loved nothing more than being a mother and grandmother. She had a strong love of learning and was passionate about her Christian faith, natural health, and organic farming."
