Olivia Newton John has announced that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and it's already “metastasized to the sacrum.”
The Grease star, 68, initially postponed her tour over what she believed were sciatica complications. But ultimately, the diagnosis was much more severe.
“The back pain that initially caused her to postpone the first half of her concert tour, has turned out to be breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum,” the singer’s announcement stated.
John Travolta’s beloved co-star revealed secrets of her treatment.
“In addition to natural wellness therapies, Olivia will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy and is confident she will be back later in the year, better than ever, to celebrate her shows," said the statement.
The Australia singer and actress explained how she plans to treat her illness.
"I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia,” she said.
Newton-John also announced she is “reluctantly postponing her June U.S. and Canadian concert tour dates.”
The singer’s statement said that she would not be addressing the public further: “There will be no interview requests accepted at this time as Olivia’s focus is on her treatment and healing.”
Newton-John was previously diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, but recovered.
