Before Kate Chastain was on Below Deck, she blew above the legal limit!
RadarOnline.com has obtained explosive court documents from Chastain's November 2001 DUI arrest — from when she was just 17 years old!
She was in the processing for being pulled over for speeding when the officer noticed her car swerving, according to the Melbourne police department report.
"I contacted the defendant and observed that her speech was slurred, mumbled and thick tongued," the report read. "Her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, and she seemed disorientated."
"She stated she had not been drinking," it continued. "I detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath even though there was a strong wind."
The officer then conducted field sobriety tests.
"During the HGN, her eyes lacked smooth pursuit," the report stated. "During the walk and turn, she failed to maintain her balance while listening to my instructions. During the exercise she stepped off the line several times and didn't walk heal sic to toe most of her steps. During the one leg stand, she swayed, used her arms for balance and hopped."
She was then arrested for DUI, and refused a Breathalyzer test until the officer reminded her that her license would be suspended without one. Chastain quickly changed her mind, according to the report, and was brought to the Melbourne police department for the test.
The reality star blew .168 during one test, and .154 during another.
The minor was released to her mother after, and her case was settled in March of that year.
She was pleaded no contest to driving under the influence and unlawful speed, and accepted a plea deal.
Chastain's license was revoked for six months and she was on supervised probation for six months as well. She was also ordered to complete 50 hours of community service within four months.
Her car was impounded for 10 days as a result of her deal, and she had to pay $546.50 in court fees.
She also had to attend and complete self-improvement school, which included an HIV awareness class and a victim awareness program.
Finally, she was ordered to write a 600-word essay on the importance of staying in school for the judge and her probation officer.
