Dick Van Patten Dies In Southern California From Diabetes Complications –– TV Legend Was 86

Eight Is Enough star Dick Van Patten died at 86 Tuesday from diabetes complications, his reps tell RadarOnline.com.
The TV icon, who played Tom Bradford on the ABC sitcom, died at Santa Monica's Saint John's Hospital.

The New York native spent a life in show biz, first appearing on Broadway at just 7-years-old, transitioning to TV with the series I Remember Mama.
In the prime of his career, he did guest spots on shows such as Sanford and Son, Happy Days and The Love Boat, and in later years, shows such as Family Guy, Growing Pains, That 70's Show, and Hot In Cleveland. He also made a mark on the silver screen, appearing in three Mel Brooks classics -- High Anxiety, Spaceballs, and Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

Van Patten is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia, and his sons, Nels, Jimmy and Vincent.
