A Colorado mother is facing charges in the gruesome death of her disabled son, who slowly starved to death, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Carol Carpenter, 69, of Blanca, Colo., is being held on first-degree murder charges in the death last October of emaciated Corey, who weighed less than 90 pounds when he was found.
"He wasn't provided the food and water he needed to live," says Costilla County Undersheriff Andrew Espinosa.
"All his bones were showing through his skin."
Although Corey, 27, had been able to walk, he was unable to prepare his own food, said Espinosa.
He and his mother lived in an old trailer near the town of Blanca, according to mayor, Myrrl Smith.
"He was totally disabled. She had to take care of him ever since her husband died. She's just a little, bitty old skinny woman," the mayor said in local reports.

"She kept to herself. I never did see that much of her."
Smith said the last murder case in the small town of about 550 people happened roughly 50 years ago.
Because of the complexity of the case, the local sheriff's department received help in its investigation from officers of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, said Espinosa.
The death was ruled a result of abandonment and neglect, and mom Carpenter is being held without bond in the Costilla County Detention Facility.
