Casey Anthony's Lawyer Tells All: 'She Got Away With Justice'
Sept. 20 2016, Published 12:33 p.m. ET
It's been five years since a Florida jury found Casey Anthony not guilty in first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter in the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee, but the case continues to fascinate many.
In a shocking new interview with local news station, WFTV, Anthony's attorney, Cheney Mason, addressed claims that his client "got away with murder."
"No," he told anchor Greg Warmoth. "She got away with justice."
"The public was calling for a lynching," Mason continued, "and, you know, I can't let that happen."
Despite protests from his wife at the start of the trial, and death threats throughout it's lengthy time in court, Mason took the case on pro bono, assisting lead lawyer Jose Baez on the road to a victory verdict that shocked the world.
As for Anthony's reputation as one of the most hated women in America, Mason insisted the 30-year-old is a good person.
"She is very likeable," he said of his client. "She gets along well with my wife. Everybody that's met her likes he. She wants to go on with her life, and I'm dedicated to help her do that."
Now that the case is over, Mason says he continues to support Anthony — both "emotionally and financially" — to help her achieve success.
Meanwhile, the so-called monster mom has been trying to live a life of normalcy in south Florida.
But, as RadarOnline.com previously reported, she recently found herself in the middle of a steamy sex scandal! Private investigator Dominic Casey, who was hired back in 2008 to help with her defense, claimed in a deposition taken in January that Anthony paid for her legal team with sex!
In the Sept. 5, 2008 deposition, the P.I. alleged that Anthony and attorney Baez, were secretly shacking up.
Do you think Cheney Mason knew about Casey's alleged affair? Sound off in the comments below.
